For a Novice, Which is more effective to Start out With, Snowboarding or Skiing?

Normally, you don’t believe which one is the right answer to your question as in the end it will always remain a matter of personal preference. Anyone know of a cute little place to stay that has reasonable rates and allows pets in Big Bear California? We are going on a long trip, visiting lots of family and my son and two of his friends want to stop off at Big Bear and go snowboarding . We are looking for a cute little cabin style place to hang out and relax, while they do so. The closer to the ski resort, the better! Thanks! Remember..cute and pets..
