Snowboarding Tricks – How To Do A Nosepress

The nosepress is a great tool to help you build up to bigger and better grinds. The nosepress is universal and can be used on boxes, rails or flat ground. Take on this trick after you have mastered the boardslide and the 50-50 grind. A nosepress is a simple grind or slide technique that you can easily practice and master in the park. Basically you will be moving forward, and shifting your weight to the front of your board, naturally bending the board and lifting the tail off of the ground while you continue to move forward. Those of you who have mastered the manual will realize that this is the opposite, instead of leaning back and lifting the nose off of the ground, you will lean forward and lift the tail off of the ground.
The nosepress is very simple, but we can break down the trick into 4 easy steps: the approach, the entry, the grind and the exit. You will want to remember to stay relaxed throughout the entire grind. If you hesitate or try to bail you will cause more trouble for yourself. As you begin your approach, you will want to line up to hit the rail (or box) head on. Keep a steady speed and keep the end of the rail as your goal. You should not be turning at all as you reach the base of the kicker and you she be heading straight for the rail. As you get to the lip of the kicker, pop an ollie and keep your shoulders in line with your board. As you pop off of the lip, shift your weight slightly forward. You should come down on the rail with your shoulders in line and your weight on your front foot and the nose of the board. This will cause the board to bend and position you into a nosepress. As you move through the grind stay relaxed with your weight forward, and move your shoulders for balance. Keep the grind smooth and don’t jerk around while you find your exit. As the end of the rail approaches, pop your back foot up and pull up your knees to do a nollie. Keep your knees bent in the air and stomp your landing down on flat ground.
And that’s it. A simple yet smooth and stylish nosepress to add to your arsenal of snowboarding tricks. You will need some practice to find the points of balance on the rail landing and the grind, but after a few tries you should have this trick down easily.

SNOWBOARDING TRICKS 360
tips for tricks: 360 and board slide?

How do you do a 360 on a snowboard, i know how to do a 180. Do you just need more speed toward the lip and the same technique? or is it harder for a 360??

Also, i have grinded my share of rails throughout snowboarding, but all in 50-50 without transfer. Why and how are boardslides much harder than 50-50s?

thanks

Its always really tricky (excuse the pun) to describe something you do and feel with your body with just words. I’ve posted some links to free videos below.

These sites have descriptions in text, video and audio (for listening on your iPod on the slopes) of how to nail loads of different tricks.

They also cover exercises you can do at home and the mental training required to progress quickly.

Knowing how to do a trick is only part of it. Professional athletes spend time training their minds and their mental attitude to help them perform and learn new tricks. Some people do this naturally (you know the ones who are good at everything they try first time!), but it is possible for anyone to learn the secrets of the right mental attitude.

I’m not a pro but I’ve been riding for years and I know from experience that how you think about what your doing has a big impact at every stage of your progression and performance.
It can stop you in your tracks or make a new trick, or gnarly run effortless.

BEGINNERS SNOWBOARDING GUIDE
what is a wide snowboard and I wanna know it’s proper for me or not?

I’m beginner in snowboarding and I wanna buy a board,so I need to know which kind and size of snowboard should I use.I’m 6′3″ and my shoe size is 13. s.b. said to me that I should use a wide snowboard,so I wanna know that is it right and need some more guides about starting this exiting sport.

That’s right. If you have big feet, which I think a size 13 qualifies, then you would want to buy a wide snowboard. A wide snowboard, is exactly what its name implies: a snowboard that is wider on the sides than normal. Why you want a wide snowboard, is because if you have big feet, your feet will be sticking out the sides of a normal snowboard. If you go toeside, your feet will dig into the snow, and you’ll probably eat frost. A wider snowboard will have more room for your feet. I find that they are more stable, though I find it easier to carve with a regular snowboard. Since you’re a beginner though, you wouldn’t notice much of a difference, since you’ll probably be doing a lot of heelside braking first.

Short answer: yes, a wide snowboard would be good for you.
