Does anyone have any good snow reports? Where do you recommend thats cheap for a day trip out of Tokyo
http://thejapaneseeye.blogspot.com/
I am a fanatic snowboarder. I check the websites for the specific resorts or weather.yahoo.co.jp for the weather and snow reports. Yahoo.co.jp also provides a link from the weather page to the different snow resorts in Japan. From Tokyo the best or simplest day trip is to the Gala-Yuzawa. You can see their website at www.gala.co.jp. That is the simplest to get to, but not the best resort for a day trip. The Gala-Yuzawa station, is directly under the Gala-Yuzawa resort main lodge. You just have to get off the shinkansen and go upstairs. For a more wider and open area, you can take a shuttle or taxi or the local train to Jouetsu Kokusai resort from the Echigo-Yuzawa station. After February the snow and weather starts to warm up enough that the snow is not so good anymore. My suggestion is go mid week, or you will be standing in lines all day long. The best resort with really good terrain parks and jumps is at Hunter Mountain Shiobara, in Tochigi prefecture. The huge hurdle is access is only bar car or bus. Nagano is an easy day trip from Tokyo, but the reorts are actually another 1 hour bus ride away. For Nagano-Hakuba, I suggest a 2 or 3 day trip.

should i go to camp woodward and what should i do?
i am wondering if i should go to camp woodward (east). if i do should i go for snowboarding or skateboarding. i really like snowboarding but i only snowboard like once or twice a year. i’m not very good because i can barely go of a tiny jump (2-3 ft. tall) and land it. i can also go off a really high jump onto like a big table thats at the same height. i kind of like skateboarding but i am horrible i can only ollie maybe 5 inches high, shuv-it and pop-shuv it 3-4 inches off the ground, and i can kind of almost land a kickflip. i am not daring at all i wont even ollie onto a 2 inch high ledge and i wont do a stair set for my life. i have some other questions also. do they teach you alot at this camp? also are there open showers or private showers. im also just wondering about the whole snowboard scheduale i pretty much know the skating one. and do they allow electronics like phones and PSPs?
Snowboard, you’ll never get better with out the pratice.!! && it allway more fun to do something different than the usual.!!
