SNOWBOARDING YOSEMITE

San Francisco Bay Area Sledding and Snow Parks for kids?
I have a 4 year-old that would like to play in the snow
(sledding, snow tubing, build a snowman, etc.)
but we live in San Francisco
and don’t want to drive more than 3 hours (no Tahoe, no
Yosemite).
Is there a closer spot to enjoy the snow with
kids, without going all the way to a ski resort or
snowboarding park?
Thanks,
A lot of the answers are good, and we’ve basically decided to heads for the foothills.
A good tactic is to head to Sacramento or
Auburn and then try a few places from there.
Also for Tahoe, timing is key to avoid the highway traffic with a little one.
Thanks,
/charles
You do know that tahoe is only 3 hours from the bay area right? Boreal ski resort is the closest and it is in Lake Tahoe. With no traffic it is 3 hours, 177 miles. Dodge Ridge, out side of Modesto, is 161 miles and about 3 hours.
once in a blue moon if we get cold enough weather and the right store, Mt. Diablo (3900 feet high) gets snow that you can go play in. but nothing enough for sledding.
the bay area is just not high enough or cold enough. we are also pretty much past the cold weather for the season.
