which camera is better, Nikon D90; Sony a550, or Sony a700?
so im looking into getting a new camera for doing photo shoots for bands and snowboarding. i currently film and are more familiar with camcorders. so when is comes to a DSLR camera im not sure which one to get. i know what everyone usually goes nuts over Nikon, but ive been looking into Sony’s Alpha series as well ive seen shots from both and they look beautiful. but when i narrow it down i have three choices.
Nikon D90
Sony a550
Sony a700
now the D90 has 12.3 megapixels. while the a550 has 14.2 and the a700 has 12.24. now i know megapixels dont always mean EVERYthing but it is a good portion. i love the features the sony camera has but i also like how i can record video on the D90. but i know in the end im looking for a camera. so if you could let me know your input on which camera you like, and which camera will take better quality photos that would be sweet!
The Sony A700 is a semi-pro body, the other two are high end consumer ones. Comparing apples and oranges.
If you were to compare the A700 to the D300 and they were the same price, then I would get the D300. The D300 is a lot more.
Despite what the fan boys say, the A700 is a better body than the D90. It has a faster AF system and works beautifully with f/2.8 lenses, because it was designed to. You’ll know all the stuff about the advantage of in-body image stabilisation over Nikon body’s, so I won’t bore you.
Like all dSLRs, video on the D90 is poor, get a video camera.
Shoot RAW and they’ll perform practically the same, if you aren’t shooting RAW then don’t waste your money on a dSLR.
With respect, they will all produce better images than you are capable of.
Get the one that feels right in your hands, and has DEDICATED buttons and dials in the right places.
