SNOWBOARDING BACKPACKS
Best SUV for “outdoorsy” people?
I am in the market for an SUV and am considering the Wrangler Unlimited and Nissan Xterra. I need something that will be practical for outdoor adventure sports (backpacking, kayaking, mountain biking, snowboarding, jet skiing, scuba diving, etc.). Any suggestions?
What about the Jeep Patriot? Any experiences?
I happen to sell Nissan XTerra’s…and as a diver and an “outdoorsy” person, I truly feel that it’s the best SUV on the market for those purposes.
You have more cargo room in the Xterra…and with the floor rails, it’s easy to get hooks that you can use with bungy cords to make sure your tanks don’t roll around the back. The interior is comfortable in the front for passengers, but rubberized in the back for your wet gear. Very easy to wipe out with a wet cloth.
Also…in regards to the Jeeps…you’ll pay more on the front end…and the “issues” that the Jeep line have regarding their electrical system are not ones you probably want to deal with.
My advice…before purchasing new…shop and drive 2 – 3 year old models of each. Compare how they feel/drive after they have a few miles on them. I think you’ll agree that the Xterra outdoes the Wrangler. (though I definitely like the “cute” factor of the Wrangler…)
