NIKE SNOWBOARDING BOOTS BUY

Do I have to rent snowboarding boots if I rent a board, or can I buy my own?

Some woman (who used to work at a resort) told me that if I bought boots they would need to fit the bindings on the board, so buying wouldnt make any sense. I was going for the Nike Zoom Force 1s, but she also pointed out there was no metal on the bottom of the boot, the sole was just like the sole of a regular shoe??? Please Help. This will be my 4thx snowboarding, but am trying to gain more & more gear as i go.

I haven’t rented in years but most places rent step-in bindings which require a specific boot. These bindings have what’s basically a metal clamp that attaches to two metal pieces at the base of the boot. You need this type of boot to ride step-in bindings. Most of the people you see on the mountain have traditional bindings that hold you in with two straps so no specific boot is required. The Nike Zoom Force 1’s are a traditional boot so they won’t fit on step-in bindings. Now I’m sure some mountains rent out traditional bindings but you’d have to call ahead to figure out what type of bindings the place you’re going to rents out…. so just call the mountain and ask.
