BURTON SNOWBOARDING GEAR

Best snowboarding gear for me?
I’m a beginner and I just started 3 weeks ago but I’ve been 5-6 times and I’m pretty good. I am interested in free riding and I need to know what are the best boards, bindings and boots. I am interested in Burton snowboards and I have no clue about bindings and boots. I wear a size 15 shoe, I’m 13 6′3 185 lbs.
I’d suggest you find a low profile boot.. something that fits better on a board. your shoe size will probably be different than your boot size, I wear a size 12 shoe but a size 10.5 – 11 snowboard boot. Big feet are a snowboards worst enemy lol. when sizing a boot you want your toes to barely touch the end of the boot and it should fit pretty snug because it will pack out throughout the season. I always try to get the smallest size that’s still comfortably snug. but as for a brand of boot it’s personal preference, some like a stiff boot and some like a softer boot, just get the lowest profile that fits the best.
For bindings you’re going to need to match the size of the binding to the size of the boot. most bindings have a range like Large is 11-13 or something along those lines. Some good brands for bindings are Rome, Ride, Flux, Union, and i guess Burton (depending on the model, some of their models are just awful).
As boards go you’re going to have to get a Wide version of a board or at least something with a pretty big waist width to accommodate your large feet. The goal of the wider board is to reduce toe hang/heel drag for people with large feet. A little toe hang is fine but with a size 15 you’re going to have way to much for a normal board to handle. I try to keep it at less than 1 inch for both the toe and heel.. thats fine. Now i’m not sure what Burtons line-up looks like as far as boards go but i’m sure if you look at their website you’ll be able to figure it out. I’m guessing you’ll be shooting for a waist width of greater than 265mm. Freeride boards tend to be quite stiff and since you’re still learning I don’t know if that’s the best route to take. I think an All mountain board will be just fine, they’ll be stiffer than park oriented boards but softer than freeride boards. But of course if you think you’re ready for a super stiff board than i won’t stop you. A good board for bigger people like you would be a Lib Tech Skunk Ape, it’s designed for the bigger individual and will accommodate your large feet. I’d take it over a Burton any day. http://www.lib-tech.com/snow/snowboards/skunk-apes/
I’d like to hear other people’s opinion on the subject though. usually I’d steer beginners towards a softer board, but I can’t really think of one that will accommodate a size 15 boot
