Is this good…what else do I need?

Burton makes decent boards, but you can get a good board cheaper. My personal favorite in Nitro. I originally had a Heelside board which was fine, but when I got the Nitro Mystique I was able to turn so much more easily. It is a great learning board, more forgiving than a lot out there.
Boots: They don’t have to be Burton either, there are plenty of good brands out there. I’ve heard the most comfortable boots for girls are Northwave or Thirty-Two. I personally have some from DC Shoes and they are nice, cute, and have held up well.

For clothes, check out Betty Rides, Sessions, or Bonfire. Personally I think Betty Rides has the cutest stuff out there for girls. Get some insulated pants and some with good waterproofing (at least 15k) because you’re going to be spending a lot of time on your bottom and you don’t want to freeze or get wet. The coat doesn’t need to be as good until you get better at snowboarding and ride in all conditions.

Gloves: Don’t skimp on these, get some nice DAKINE Goretex gloves. Your hands are going to be on the snow quite a bit and you don’t want to have wet freezing hands or it will be no fun. I personally like the Cougar glove, it has leather palms and a goggle wiper, and they are Goretex.

Don’t forget a nice warm beanie.

And I highly recommend wrist guards and knee pads. You can wear the knee pads under your pants and no one will know there are there, but trust me, they will save you a lot of pain. Wrist guards can help prevent a broken wrist. They aren’t a guarantee, but they can prevent some breaks.

You’ll need a stomp pad for your board, DAKINE makes some nice girl models with leashes to match.

And please, please take at least 1-2 lessons because they will teach you the basics of controling your board and stopping. And don’t give up. Snowboarding is hard to learn at first because of all the falling you do, but once you get past that it is a lot of fun and great exercise.

New snowboarding gear!
